Brighton booked their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League after securing a 1-0 win at AEK Athens on Thursday.
The hosts piled on the pressure in the first half, but Brighton stood firm to remain in the contest at half-time.
Roberto De Zerbi‘s men improved after the break and went in front in the 55th minute when Joao Pedro slotted home a penalty following a lengthy VAR check. Things went from bad to worse for AEK Athens 10 minutes later as Mijat Gacinovic was sent off for a second bookable offence, and Brighton held on to move into the knockout rounds.
