Kobbie Mainoo is in line for a large pay rise after making his breakthrough into the Man United first-team.
Manchester United Football Club have been struggling this season. That much is obvious. It’s very telling that the senior players are now starting to be shown up by mere kids in the form of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
The pair of talented teenagers look like the only ones interested in fighting for the badge and putting the effort in for the cause. Honestly, it must be pretty embarrassing for the more experienced members in the dressing room.
Over the last few games, Mainoo’s breakthrough has been the only entertainment we’ve had. The Stockport-born midfielder has been a breath of fresh air in a time of genuine struggle – and it looks as though he’s about to be rewarded.
It’s the Daily Star with the story. They state that the United man is set for a ‘bumper’ payrise due to a contract clause that will see him double his wages.
Mainoo currently fetches home around £10,000-a-week, though now that he’s a regular part of Ten Hag’s first-team squad, the young man’s wages are set to rise to the £20,000-a-week mark.
I sometimes worry when too much money is given to these starlets too soon. Some fall victim to it, ala Ravel Morrison and Mason Greenwood. Others rise to the challenge, like the aforementioned Garnacho.
Mainoo is a well-grounded young man and I fully believe that he will not allow this rise to stardom to go to his head. His position requires a calm mindset and Mainoo’s mentality is perfect for that role. Hence why I reckon he’ll continue to stay cool even after earning more money.
