Man United are one of the clubs credited with an interest in signing Ajax midfielder, Kenneth Taylor.
Manchester United’s squad is still looking like one that isn’t close to challenging for major honours. That’s the harsh reality of the situation.
Erik ten Hag has to bear the brunt of the blame as his signings have been largely hit and miss so far, though he will get another chance to put that right over the next couple of transfer windows.
Whether or not funds will be available in January is a question that remains unanswered, though I’d assume he’ll have a better chance at spending if Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s minority stake in the club is confirmed before Christmas.
Over the last 24 hours, TEAMtalk have linked United with a move to sign a midfielder, which would make sense given how poor the Old Trafford side look in that area of the field.
It’s Ajax’s Kenneth Taylor who is attracting the attention. United are said to be among the sides ‘keeping close tabs’ on the 21-year-old midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.
Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester City are also credited with an interest in the Dutchman, who Ten Hag will know well from their time together at Ajax.
It’s stated that the Eredivisie club are ‘considering offloading’ one of their top talents following a poor start to the campaign. TEAMtalk state that Taylor would be ‘reluctant’ to leave Ajax in January, with a summer move more likely.
A defensive midfielder by trade, Taylor could offer some more protection to a United back four that needs it. However, I just struggle to see how United win this race. They’re in competition with clubs who are all progressing and moving forward, where the Red Devils are moving backwards right now…
