It is another devastating injury blow for former Bayern Munich and current Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Hernández.
The Frenchman was substituted in the first half of PSG’s 1-0 loss at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday in the first leg of its Champions League semifinals tie, and afterwards was confirmed to have torn another ACL. From PSG.fr:
Lucas Hernandez, who was injured during the UEFA Champions League match between Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The MRI performed today confirmed the diagnosis established by the club’s doctors on Wednesday evening.
Hernández tore the ACL on his right knee in France’s opening match of the FIFA 2022 Men’s World Cup — that injury occurring less than 10 minutes into the game. Now the 28-year-old once again faces a long road to recovery, and will for sure be knocked out of contention for this summer’s EURO 2024 tournament.
BVB, meanwhile, enjoyed an impressive performance and now has the inside track to reaching the Final. Can Bayern Munich make it two for two for the Bundesliga in the UCL semifinals?
