Bayern Munich notched a neat feat against Real Madrid in the home leg of its Champions League semifinals tie, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Despite the scoreline, the Bavarians had the upper hand for large spells of the game and will be disappointed to come away without a larger advantage. However, one stat they will not be unhappy with is the precision of their passing on the day: at 93.7%, 520 completed out of 555 attempts, Bayern reached rarefied air. From Sofascore, via @iMiaSanMia:
Bayern’s 93.7% passing accuracy (520/555) recorded against Real Madrid tonight is the highest passing accuracy by one team in a single Champions League knockout stage match over the last nine seasons [@SofascoreINT] pic.twitter.com/OXsJ0NAsyc

Who were the key distributors on the night for Bayern? Eric Dier led the way with 79/82, as expected of a ball-playing center-back. Next highest in volume was Konrad Laimer, who completed 76 out of 78 attempts while pulling the strings in midfield. Center-back partner Kim Min-jae followed, at 72/74.
Of course, accuracy is not everything. But Bayern balanced control and creativity to expertly handle the first leg of this tie. It is now all to play for in Madrid in a week’s time.
