After Bayern Munich’s languid win over Eintracht Frankfurt, the postgame questions seem to be about everything except the match itself. The coaching situation at FC Hollywood has loomed large, but it sounds like it might be coming to an abrupt end.
“We spoke internally and we’ve made up our minds on one candidate,” said sporting director Max Eberl. “We’re now waiting to see what happens. The most important thing now is the Real game on Tuesday. After that we’ll see what happens.”
There have been a variety of reports that Ralf Rangnick, the current manager for Austria’s national team, is the assumed choice that Bayern has been negotiating with to become the next manager.
It seems very possible that Bayern and Rangnick want to wait until after Bayern finishes this year’s Champions League run before making an official announcement. But as we saw from Uli’s Hoeneß’ comments this week, subtlety has never been a strong personality trait at Bayern.
