Bayern Munich’s do-or-die tie against Real Madrid in the Champions League saw reporters bring up the topic of Uli Hoeneß’s provocative statements about Tuchel’s supposed inability to develop players once again in the pre-match interview with Thomas Tuchel.
Despite Tuchel’s public outburst defending himself against Uli’s typical goading, Uli went to the media to reiterate his words, maintaining his opinion rather than allowing such drama to rest. Tuchel was asked about Uli maintaining his stance, to which he refused any reply.
“The topic is over. I won’t comment further about that,” said Tuchel (via @iMiaSanMia). When prompted again, he made it clear that the matter wouldn’t go any further — at least not with him as he said, pointing to his head: “Real Madrid. There’s only Real Madrid here.”
It is quite something to see Tuchel be more mature about this than Uli despite being at the receiving end of the criticism. That says a lot about Hoeneß and why his time pulling the strings at Bayern should be brought to an end.
