Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is among the players who could leave the club this summer. While FC Barcelona seems to really want Kimmich, Manchester City could be the ultimate leader in the clubhouse to land the Germany international:
It is no secret that Joshua Kimmich is one of the pivot midfielders that Barcelona are interested in signing in the summer window. In fact, as per SPORT, the Blaugrana have been in contact with his entourage for years, informing them of his situation and making their interest clear, but it has never been possible to bring him in.
But with his contract expiring in 2025, Kimmich could leave Bayern Munich in the summer as there is no agreement over a renewal. With the possibility of a summer departure very likely, the report states that Kimmich ‘loves’ Barcelona and believes he can be a very good fit at the club.
Last summer, the 29-year-old was even talking to Barça boss Xavi Hernandez about a possible move and was determined to make the leap. But there was never any chance for the operation to go through because Bayern didn’t want to negotiate and Barça didn’t have enough money.
Now, the midfielder understands that he has finished a cycle in Germany and has not negotiated his renewal. And Bayern will prefer placing him on the market instead of losing him for free in 2025.
Barça are fully aware of his situation and have maintained their interest in the player. And even though the player loves the club, the player’s entourage doubts the Catalans’ chances of signing him for economic reasons.
Despite his admiration for Barcelona, the report states that Kimmich is not going to wait forever and could prioritise other more viable options to continue his career.
If the Blaugrana have the financial capacity to make the step forward, Kimmich would be delighted to join, but at the moment they cannot guarantee anything and the player wants to clarify his situation as early as possible.
As such, Kimmich’s final destination could be PSG or Manchester City. Both clubs see him as a market opportunity and would be in a position to negotiate a transfer in excess of €65 million.
At Barcelona, Kimmich is very much appreciated, but if several players are not sold it will be impossible to afford the operation.
Ultimately, Kimmich’s future will likely be determined by whoever the next head coach is for Bayern Munich. More than ever, though, it does seem like the veteran is becoming increasingly likely to at least consider his options after the season.
Rumors have started to swirl that Bayern Munich is — once again — kicking the tires on FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. If so, the road to getting the Dutchman might be a little more clear as Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly dropped out of the running for De Jong due to Financial Fair Play concerns:
Paris Saint-Germain are looking to bolster their midfield this summer as they aim to build a team in the post-Kylian Mbappé era. Over the last few months, various names, including Frenkie de Jong, have been linked to the French giants.
However, a recent report from SPORT revealed PSG are dropping any attempt to negotiate a possible transfer for the 26-year-old after this season. According to the Spanish media outlet, the Ligue 1 side are also fighting a deep battle to balance its books.
The capital club prioritizes reducing the team’s costs and aligning its budget to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations. Furthermore, Barcelona’s desire for at least €80 million is causing the Parisians to close this file.
When one door closes, another one opens, and the Daily Mail (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Bayern Munich has reignited its interest in de Jong and inquired about the possibility of signing the Dutch midfielder from FC Barcelona this summer.
It will be interesting to see if the Spanish side get the price they’re looking for when it comes to de Jong. Nonetheless, there will be suitors regardless of PSG deciding to step away.

Bayern Munich is looking to build a new performance center on the ground of Säbener Straße:
FC Bayern has applied to the City of Munich for a review of key points for approval to build a new performance center on the club’s premises at Säbener Straße.
Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO: “Säbener Straße has been the home of FC Bayern for 75 years, and we want to stay here for the long term. However, it is necessary for us to further develop the sporting infrastructure for our professional players in order to continue to meet the highest national and international standards in the future. A new performance centre is therefore a key element in ensuring that FC Bayern can continue to attract international players and remain competitive at the very highest level. It goes without saying that the neighbourhood and political decision-makers will be transparently informed and involved in every step of the planning process.”
An analysis of the location and usage by the club has showed that all the necessary uses for an adequate and sustainable infrastructure could be accommodated in a new performance centre on the site. FC Bayern has been training at Säbener Straße since 1949. An office was built in 1970 and since then the site has been repeatedly adapted to meet new requirements. Extensive remodelling work was carried out in 1979, at the end of the 1980s and in 2008. Since the junior section and FC Bayern Women moved to the new FC Bayern Campus in summer 2017, Säbener Straße has been home to the club’s two men’s teams.
Manchester United is reportedly contemplating making a big offer for Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni:
Manchester United are ready to offer £52m to Inter for center-back Alessandro Bastoni, with the Red Devils shifting their focus to signing the world’s best young players.

The contract of the 1990 world champion runs until the end of the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt did not sound like he was opposed to Julian Nagelsmann would have returned to lead Bayern Munich once more. Alas, though, Nagelsmann re-upped with the DFB.
“I have a good relationship with him, I worked well with him last year. But he’s now the national team coach. We’ll see who will be our coach for the new season,” De Ligt said.
After a magnificent outing against Arsenal FC, Bayern Munich came into a game against Union Berlin with momentum on their side and made it count, running out 5-1 victors in Köpenick. Didi Hamann broke down the recent happenings at Liverpool FC and how the English club is handling its coaching search.
“The club is taking its time, but at some stage they’ve got to make a decision. I think it was always clear that at some stage that the Klopp era comes to an end. The past eight or nine years, I think they overperformed. They started off the season with five, six new players coming in, the whole midfield last season. Over the last two seasons, I thought top four by itself would be a success. Obviously, it was unfortunate that they had their biggest day off against Atalanta at home, who knocked them out of the Europa League competition, but that’s the way it goes,” Hamann said. “They’ve still got a chance to win the Premier League, they’ve already won a cup and they will play Champions League next year. I think the season is already a success after the players they brought in.
“Regarding the manager, obviously they brought a director in now. They will have talks about the position at some stage because it’s probably easier as well to attract players when you know who the manager is, But I think they’re in a good position. Better than what some are making out.”
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala appreciated what he recently heard from Toni Kroos, who was complimentary of the youngster.
“Toni Kroos is an amazing player. Just from the training sessions, you can see how calm he is on the ball. Over the years from the games I’ve watched, he’s a fantastic player and can really help us a lot. I have a lot of respect for him – it feels very good to be praised by him,” Musiala said.
