Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has grown up as a player right before the eyes of fans.
Back in in the 2017/18 season, Kimmich was just a spry, young lad looking to cement himself as a first team player at Bayern Munich. During that campaign, the Bavarians also found themselves in a Champions League duel against Real Madrid and Kimmich remembers it well.
“Both teams are completely different now. The games will be different. Real Madrid will probably go into the game as favorites because the season was a bit turbulent for us. Nevertheless, I definitely see chances for us,” Kimmich told Tz’s Philipp Kessler and Mano Bonke (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
As for the game plan against Los Blancos, Kimmich would not reveal much, but did indicate that it could look familiar to those who have followed Bayern Munich this summer.
“We’ve recently been relying on transition a lot, both with the national team and the club. Especially under Thomas Tuchel, we had good games where we defended a bit deeper and launched quick attacks. We’re moving more purposefully and are trying to finish the attacks quickly,” said Kimmich.
