Man United are weighing up a possible move to sign young Brighton midfielder, Carlos Baleba.
Manchester United Football Club are going to need to spend pretty big money this summer, as INEOS look to return this club back to its former glory.
That’s easier said than done. It will take time. Fans are eager to see a positive start to this new era, though. The club simply have to get their signings right.
Several names have been linked with an Old Trafford move, while I am starting to see a common trend. The Reds are no longer looking at marquee names. Rather, they’re searching deeper in the market and weighing up moves for the lesser-known players.
Today’s latest rumour from Caught Offside definitely follows that trend. They link United with a move to sign Brighton midfielder, Carlos Baleba.
The young man only joined Brighton last summer, though Baleba has since established himself as a regular, playing over 30 times for The Seagulls this summer.
United are said to be among the sides ‘showing an interest’ in signing the ‘talented’ midfielder, along with Arsenal and Liverpool.
Baleba is said to be ‘on the radar’ of the three aforementioned clubs, as they all search to bring in new central midfielders. Although he only joined Brighton less than twelve months ago, they could be ready to listen to offers of around £55m to let the 20-year-old depart.
Sofyan Amrabat will not be here next season. There’s a chance both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen leave, too. Midfield reinforcements feel like a pretty big priority.
Signing Baleba would allow United to get younger at the position, while he’s also going to be more mobile and energetic than the likes of Eriksen and Casemiro. Although this would represent a large chunk of the transfer budget, it’s a move that does make a lot of sense. United simply aren’t winning the midfield battles right now, with Kobbie Mainoo trying to do it all on his own. He needs help.
