Bayern Munich’s increasingly drawn-out coaching search got you down? Just imagine how it is for the players, who are also sorting out a disappointing Bundesliga season and still-alive Champions League campaign on the side.
If there were ever a test of maintaining focus, this is it.
“Of course it’s a topic in the dressing room, but it doesn’t put a strain on us as a team at all,” Bayern winger Serge Gnabry stated after Saturday’s match against VfB Stuttgart (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “What else are we supposed to do do? I’m sure the right solution will be found.”
If results are anything to go by, however, the rumor mill is taking its toll at least a little. Bayern looked out of sorts in its 1-3 road defeat to Stuttgart and will have to sort things out quickly before Wednesday’s match on the road against Real Madrid.
A new coach, and clarity, was supposed to be nearly in place by then. Now the future is cloudier than ever — but that may be just the impetus Bayern needs to get locked in the present.
