Former Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn took to Twitter to congratulate his old club for reaching the Champions League semifinals.
Bayern defeated Arsenal 1-0 on the second quarterfinals leg on Wednesday, meaning the Bavarians have advanced 3-2 on aggregate and will face Real Madrid next.
For Kahn, does the win carry a small feeling of vindication? Perhaps. Kahn was in charge when Bayern made the move to sack Julian Nagelsmann last March, with reports coming out that the bosses saw Bayern’s treble campaign in danger.
Things have…well, not exactly gone to plan since then. But a Champions League Final appearance — even a win — is now in sight under Nagelsmann’s successor, Thomas Tuchel, whom Kahn singled out in his congratulations:
Congratulations @FCBayern. I am especially delighted for Thomas Tuchel, who, with clever tactics, has led the team to the Champions League semi-finals. The title is now within reach! pic.twitter.com/s5qMuQ5oCq

Tuchel is now heading out too, of course. But perhaps with one last vindication on the way.
