Chelsea have added a new number 9 to their transfer shortlist as they ponder bringing in more firepower in 2024, ideally in January.
The club have been strongly linked with the likes of both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen of late, but both of those players might be tough to get in January, and according to an exclusive report today, Chelsea ideally want a new striker in January.
As always, the club will have contingency plans and other options on the shortlist, even if Osimhen and Toney stay as the priority targets.
But an alternative has been looked at as well recently, according to an exclusive from journalist Simon Phillips.
He has a detailed report out on his Substack website today, saying that Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres has been added to their striker shortlist.
The 25-year-old Swedish international stands at 6ft 2in tall and was at Brighton for a while as well.
But he might also prove to be tough to get in January, having only recently joined the Portuguese side. An interesting one all the same.
