Pereira – booed lustily, jukes Pickford who moves to his right, Andreas sends it to his left and it’s 1-1.
It’s going to be penalties needed to decide this game after both sides fought valiantly to a 1-1 draw. This is just going to be a lottery at this point. They will be taken at the Gwladys Street end, and the Blues will kick first too.
90+7’ – Perreira foul, Garner will take it, into the box, and Fulham can get it clear.
There’s the fulltime whistle, we’re headed to penalties.
90+6’ – Twice Patterson has made great tackles, this time the ball goes over him and Decordova-Reid can get tp it, Keane blocks the cross and Pickford collects.
90+3’ – Chaos in the box! Tarky’s header is not great, and Fulham are able to hold it in the box, a low cross from Perreira dribbles across the goal and mercifully Patterson gets to it first.
90+1’ – Danjuma with a snap volley from a half-clearance in the box, just over! Oooh, that would have been quite the winner.

88’ – Fulham look the hungrier of the two sides here, with penalties beckoning. Remember, there will be no extra time tonight, going straight to the penalty shootout if the two sides are level at full time.
85’ – Garner fouled, and then some extracurriculars between Muniz and Tarky, with the Brazilian stamping on the Everton defender, ref of course saw nothing.
82’ – GOAL!! Ball into the box, pinging about, no one can clear but Beto gets his head on it and hits it hard into the corner, nothing Leno could do about it and it’s 1-1!!
77’ – Decordova-Reid and Perreira on, Wilson and Reed off for Marco.
Tarky with a needed foul as he was losing that battle, luckily Perreira’s freekick is awful.
74’ – McNeil tries to place a shot at the far post, Tosin blocks. Now Beto gets behind the backline, but he’s offside.
73’ – Delightful ball from Onana to Patto, cross is just behind a blue shirt, argh.
71’ – Good play on the right from Patterson and Garner, the Blues have a corner. McNeil inswinger, cleared and Fulham break! Great last ditch tackle from Tarky stops the danger.

70’ – The way to beat Everton is to give them possession. The Blues don’t have too many ways to hurt anyone with it beyond the long ball and deep crosses.
67’ – Evertonians are getting more impatient, but the Blues’ long ball tactics are getting a bt scrambled with the heavy winds.
Iwobi cross cut out for a corner by Branth. Taken short, Iwobi with a stinging shot with little backlift, Pickford parries away, another corner. Outswinger, Iwobi’s ball back in collected by Pickford.

60’ – First sub of the game is like-for-like, with Beto replacing Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Tosin Adarabioyo pretty much had the #9 in his pocket in the first half, so it’ll be interesting to see what the Portuguese forward can do differently.
Willian is coming off, Tom Cairney replaces him.
59’ – Muniz with a spectacular dive as he feels pressure in his back, and the ref waves play on. Harrison however is felled and it is a freekick. Chance for the Blues to put it into the box, wasted.
Onana with a delightful through ball, but just a foot or two in either direction could have made the difference.
58’ – Horrible backpass from Wilson and DCL is inches away from getting on it as Leno rushes out to clear.
55’ – Fulham using every opportunity to bleed the clock and the Goodison crowd is letting them hear it.
52’ – Harrison starts and finishes a move on the right, bringing down an aerial ball and getting Patto and Garner involved, but his shot from outside the box is comfortably wide.
49’ – Ludicrous refereeing here. Keane was undeservingly booked in the first half, and now Patterson in the book for a similar coming together against Willian, with both players getting tested for concussion.
46’ – Garner gets us underway in the second half.
Halftime Thoughts – Shades of the last time Everton played Fulham at home, nothing seems to be going right for the Blues on either end of the pitch.

45’ – Two minutes to be added on.
Nothing going the Blues way, there’s the halftime whistle.
42’ – Everton try to hit back right away, but again the final ball is just not good enough.
Freekick in a promising position, Garner’s delivery is perfect, Tarky cannot get enough on it to redirect it goalwards, argh.
40’ – Everton’s luck runs out. Robinson makes a run down the left and the former Everton player’s cross goes off Patterson then Keane and beats Pickford at the far post, Fulham lead 1-0.
37’ – Willian wins a handball freekick off Patterson right in line with the box. Low inswinger, Tarky clears, ball back towards the Everton goal and Fulham have another freekick, against Keane who appeared to clear out Muniz as he jumped for it. Keane’s protestations win him a yellow, the first of the game.
Dangerous position this, Silva has a couple of dangerous deadball takers. Willian and Wilson over it, the Brazilian goes under the jumping wall and it’s just wide! Very, very lucky.
33’ – Another long ball into the box, no blue shirts to make decisive contact and Leno gathers.
Onana dumped unceremoniously — again — and McNeil’s deep freekick routine is smoked out by Fulham as they barge into Keane to keep him from making that header across the box.
30’ – A shot on goal! McNeil’s shot is blocked, Harrison crosses to the far post and Branthwaite gets a stooping header in, but it’s tame and Leno collects.
26’ – McNeil does well on the right, Gueye shot from outside the box, blocked by Reed.
Everton keeping the Cottagers hemmed in, and Branth’s cross is blocked for a corner. Corner bounces around the box but a Fulham player is down and the ref’s whistle goes.
25’ – McNeil shot blazed over! DCL got the ball before it bounced out, set up the wide man for a shot but he blasted it over, first shot of any kind from either side.
20’ – Fulham with a poor ball in their box that McNeil can jump on, plays in Branthwaite for a cross that is overcooked unfortunately. Passes not crisp today.
18’ – Midweek Cup games don’t tend to be raucous affairs, and it’s pretty quiet at Goodison with the Cottagers in possession.
15’ – Fulham are getting past Everton’s press pretty easily. That said the Blues are getting some joy on the right and have had a couple of crosses cut out.
10’ – A half-chance there as Gana got into space on the right, but his cutback is beyond the two Everton players attacking the six-yard box.
8’ – Fulham are looking the better side here so far, moving the ball around and getting into space.
5’ – It is a back-three in possession, Tarky in the middle, Keane right and Branth left. Garner is on the right of the midfield and left is Onana with Gueye as the pivot. Harrison has a free role.
3’ – Branthwaite! A poor turnover in midfield and Fulham are trying to break but the young defender intervenes.

Everton
Word has it that Abdoulaye Doucoure’s injury will keep him out for about a month. Jarrad Branthwaite is back from suspension, and will play in an unfamiliar left back position as Michael Keane retains his spot in the backline. Dwight McNeil back out wide as Idrissa Gueye is back in the midfield. Likely will be James Garner or Amadou Onana in that Doucoure spot behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Could be a fluid back-three/five too, with McNeil and Patterson as the wingbacks.

Everton welcome back former manager Marco Silva and his Fulham side to Goodison Park tonight. The Cottagers stole a win here on the opening day of the season when the Blues couldn’t buy a goal despite creating chances galore, but have a chance for some revenge with a Carabao Cup semi-final berth at stake.

The Toffees lost at home to a late counterattack as they pushed forward seeking a winner in the opening game of the season. Since then the Blues have certainly matured quite a bit, especially at home, and have been in pretty decent form.
The last time the two sides met in this competition was back in 2013, with Roberto Martinez’ Blues losing 2-1 in the Third Round in London. The last Cup game of any sort against the Cottagers at Goodison was in January 2012, with Denis Stracqualursi and Marouane Fellaini bagging the goals in a 2-1 win.
