Spotted in the stands on Saturday as the German men’s national team put on a 7-0 showcase win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Freiburg…former national team boss Joachim Löw.
The 64-year-old, who resides nearby, was not going to miss this one.
“I was in the hotel briefly [the day prior to the match], just said hello,” Löw shared after the match in television comments captured by kicker, and added, “There are still some players from my time here, including some in the support team.”
Löw kept his visit short — so as not to be a distraction, as he explained — and returned to enjoy the spectacle the next day. Die Mannschaft did not disappoint. A headed goal inside of two minutes by Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, the youngster whose commitment to the Germany national team over England will be one of his lasting legacies, and then an flurry of goals and glorious chances throughout in a display of total domination.
Löw must be loving what Julian Nagelsmann has done with this side.
