Bayern Munich’s attempts to renew Jamal Musiala’s contract has reportedly become even more expensive. An insistence on making Musiala the future face of the club and his transcendent performances this season may have contributed to this huge jump in pay, as the former Chelsea FC youngster is apparently set to become the team’s joint highest earner with Harry Kane, according to Florian Plettenberg:
According to the current plan, Jamal Musiala is set to sign a new contract with FC Bayern, extending until at least 2029. A salary of up to €25 million gross per year is under discussion, as exclusively revealed.
In addition, there will be an agent’s commission. However, it remains unclear whether Bayern will also provide Musiala with a signing bonus. For a four-year contract, the estimated total package is currently around €120m. Further steps are required, but the clear trend indicates that he will extend his contract.
Retaining the German will prove to be an extensively expensive endeavor. It certainly raises quite a few eyebrows, considering the club’s desire to trim the wage bill, but it seems the club retains faith that this increase in expenditure is very much worth it.
