The status of Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha, who returned from Portugal camp due to an injury, might have taken a bad turn. FCBayern.com released an update on Palhinha’s status, which indicated that he would be sidelined for the “coming weeks”:
FC Bayern’s medical department has confirmed that João Palhinha suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right adductor while training with the Portugal national team. The midfielder will therefore be sidelined for the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Sky Sport journalists Torben Hoffmann and Kerry Hau offered a report (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), indicated that Palhinha was done for the rest of this calendar year:
João Palhinha’s injury is worse than first thought. 2024 is over for him. A comeback in January is currently expected.
Bild backed that up (via @iMiaSanMia) by stating that Palhinha will be out six weeks:
João Palhinha is now set to be sidelined for around 6 weeks. He’s expected to be back after the winter break.
If Palhinha is out, Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer are expected to take over next Joshua Kimmich, while the Portuguese international and Aleksandar Pavlović are sidelined.
