Everton fans have slaughtered Amadou Onana after his “criminal” blunder in the penalty shootout against Fulham on Tuesday night (19 December).
The clash ended 1-1 after 120 minutes of action and the Toffees were just a spot-kick away from securing their place in the League Cup semi-finals after Beto, Dwight McNeil, Michael Keane and Arnaut Danjuma all converted the opening four penalties.
Andreas Pereira, Thomas Cairney and Joao Palhinha all netted for the Cottagers, but Jordan Pickford saved Bobby Decordova-Reid’s tame attempt to give Everton the chance to claim victory.
However, Onana could not have made it any easier for Fulham shot-stopper Bernd Leno, who comfortably saved the Belgian’s lacklustre effort.
James Tarkowski and James Garner both bagged after Onana’s debacle, but Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo capitalised on Idrissa Gueye’s miss to give the away side the victory 7-6 on penalties.
Fans have honed in on Onana’s “pathetic” penalty and have taken to social media to berate him, with the latest fans footage from the stands further illustrating the weakness of his effort.
Some are adamant that such a failure should see him sold, while one fan is confident the Toffees could secure a huge fee for the “arrogant” Onana.
This supporter wants the 22-year-old sold this winter and slammed him for his “disgusting attitude”.
One fan was baffled by his attempt and felt his time taking penalties should be well and truly over.
This supporter wants him sold as soon as possible before prospective buyers clock that he’s “worthless”.
One fan backed his own grandmother to convert the penalty with more conviction.
This supporter called for him to face a sanction in the wake of his attempt.
This fan was furious that Onana took the penalty at all and was baffled that Garner was not one of the first five takers.
One supporter bashed Onana after the miss and hoped that he would do some serious reflecting.
