good morning everyone and happy christmas! For those of you wondering – yes, we are still hoddling. Can’t stop won’t stop —
The year is rapidly closing, which means now is as good time as any to reflect on 2023. I figured the best way to do that would be to count down my top moments from this year.
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane and get to business.
Fitzie’s Top Five Spurs Moments of 2023, No.5: Stellini at the wheel, Tottenham 2-0 Chelsea
The Cristian Stellini era was short and ended horribly, but not before Antonio Conte’s right-hand man took the helm for Tottenham’s home fixture against Chelsea.
Those of you might remember how sour the club atmosphere was at the time. Conte’s exit was inevitable, as was Harry Kane’s and another year without a trophy.
While the end of last season was mostly forgettable, we had at least one great moment. And that came when Tottenham took it to Chelsea in North London.
The goal-scorers that day? Only two of our own – Oli Skipp and Harry Kane.
Skippy’s strike – a long range effort – was particularly glorious to watch. And then Kane headed the ball in the Chelsea net around the 80th minute to seal the win.
The mood here at Cartyfreeland was buoyant following the victory, with a not insignificant number of fans calling for Stellini to take the touchline on a permanent basis.
While that latter part did not work out, we at least had a fantastic game at the Lane.
Stay tuned as we continue our countdown tomorrow!
