This time last season, Canadian international Shelina Zadorsky was a lock-down starter and club captain for Tottenham Hotspur Women under Rehanne Skinner. What a difference a year makes. 12 months later, Skinner is out and now managing West Ham Women, Robert Vilahamn is in, and Zadorsky has lost both her starting spot and her captaincy.
Today, as expected, Spurs announced that Zadorsky is leaving the club, heading to West Ham to rejoin Rehanne Skinner for the remainder of the season on loan.
Shelina Zadorsky has joined Barclays Women’s Super League side West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
Good luck, Shelina

It’s kind of a shocking turnaround, really. Shelina was one of the anchors in Spurs’ back line two seasons ago when they finished fifth, but Vilahamn pretty clearly didn’t see her as part of his plans for the way he wants to play. Vilahamn has favored a tandem of new signing Luana Buhler and Molly Bartrip in the back line, with Amy Turner as a rotation or replacement as needed. Shelina has barely seen the pitch.
So this is kind of the end of an era. Zadorsky’s current contract at Tottenham expires in June, so this is pretty much it for her at Spurs — it’s almost certain now she’ll leave the club on a free transfer this summer and head elsewhere. I quite like Zadorsky and wish things had ended differently, but that’s football. Good luck, She.
