Everton draw away at Crystal Palace 0-0 in their FA Cup Third Round clash. Here’s the match recap and instant reaction. [RBM]
Watch the highlights below.
More from the manager Sean Dyche following the draw, especially on the harsh VAR review that ended up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting sent off for a pretty innocuous challenge. [EFC]
“When you slow it down, it’s always going to look that bit worse. From where I was, it was a great tackle. I saw the replay after, and I don’t know who the fingers need to be pointed at. When you see the referee goes over there, you know he’s going to give a red card.” – Club captain Seamus Coleman was unimpressed by referee Chris Kavanagh. [EFC]
The outrage on the DCL sending off has been quite widespread across the world of football.
Seriously a red card for Calvert Lewin ?? Does anybody honestly believe the game is better for VAR? Makes you weep how the governing bodies/PGMOL are destroying our beloved game.

Just staggering, Don. I’d also like to hear the audio to understand what was said to deem it a clear and obvious error for VAR to intervene. https://t.co/fy0qJve8zn

Crazy that Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off for that, yet Kai Havertz escaped a VAR review for this challenge against Newcastle.
Far more out of control, far more force, far worse.pic.twitter.com/b6xuQzk7r6

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is getting a three-game ban for a tackle that wasn’t excessive force, never raised an eyebrow in real time and never had a flicker of complaint from anyone on the opposing side. We may as well give up now. Pathetic

Sounds like Dwight McNeil’s injury is better than initially feared. When he got carried off on a stretcher with with his left ankle stabilized, out didn’t look good for the winger.
️ Sean Dyche on Dwight McNeil: “He’s in the dressing room. The immediate sign is better than we thought. It’s an ankle injury.” [@talkSPORT]
