Daily Mirror reporter Alan Smith was at Stamford Bridge for yesterday’s game, where he noticed something we missed.
Moises Caicedo apparently had a “tantrum” after being taken off with an hour played.
He punched his chair three times and was seen “slamming his coat down.”
We don’t blame him. This wasn’t a player having a strop because they wanted to stay on the pitch and are annoyed at their manager, this was a player venting their fury at how badly they and their team had played.
As Smith points out though, Caicedo could certainly put a lot of blame in Pochettino’s direction. The coach took off his midfield powerhouse because he was on course for a red card. But that was in part a result of how exposed he is in midfield because of the setup Pochettino has used.
He made mistakes, he was bullied off the ball, starting to lose his temper, and a red was certainly coming if his coach didn’t bring him off.
