Malo Gusto was great against Aston Villa last night, and got a lot of praise from former Chelsea player Jason Cundy.
The right back was a menace on his flank, and assisted Nicolas Jackson’s goal with a perfectly weighted cross.
Cundy was delighted with the former Lyon man’s impact:
“It feels wrong to point out individuals, but I’ve got to say Gusto at right-back has been outstanding. [Alex] Moreno has had no change,” Cundy beamed on Chelsea’s 5th Stand app.
Gusto has been one of the more frustrating players this season because of how good he’s been when he’s good. But injury has kept him out when we really needed him, and he’s also had a few shaky moments.
But that is natural for a player who is just 20 years older. Perhaps it’s because he looks older, but that’s hard to believe. There’s no need to get overly worried about flaws in his game – he’s got plenty of time to iron them out.
Instead we can just enjoy great performances like the one we got last night.
