Former Hammer Saïd Benrahma has been transfer-listed by Lyon following their provisional relegation and an incoming transfer ban.
West Ham have already received €10.8m from Lyon, with €9.6m still owed over the next two years.
The Hammers shouldn’t be out of pocket as Lyon owes them more money than they owe Lyon for Benrahma. In the summer of 2022, West Ham agreed to a transfer fee of €43m, including €17m in add-ons, with Lyon for Lucas Paquetá over four years.
A final payment of €10.75m for Paquetá is due next summer, with an additional €17m potentially payable depending on triggered clauses.
Benrahma joined Lyon in January last year when they were near the relegation zone in Ligue 1. Despite a slow start, Benni eventually broke into the team and rediscovered the form that led West Ham to pay £24m to Brentford for his services.
There has been some speculation that Benrahma could return to the London Stadium directly from Lyon but this is not the case. The players registration will remain with the French club until he is sold.
