Thiago Silva is back in the Chelsea team tonight, a decision which was really forced on Mauricio Pochettino by the injury to Benoit Badiashile. Silva was left out of the team last week – rested, but also in the wake of his wife’s Tweets which were taken as a call for Pochettino’s sacking.
Jamie Carragher was on punditry duties for Sky Sports, ad he admitted that this was not a position that any coach wants to be in – let alone a player in Silva’s place.
Carragher played a lot in the Premier League and even won the Champions League. He knows what it’s like to be on the inside of a modern dressing room, and we’re not surprised he suggests this as an “awkward position.”
You can see Carragher explain the situation in the clip embedded here:
“It puts him in an awkward position” 😬
