Axel Disasi has warned it’s too early to say ‘Chelsea are back’ but they can take confidence into the Carabao Cup final following a three match unbeaten run.
Disasi put in a man of the match performance in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday as the Blues warmed up for their Wembley show down against Liverpool.
The summer signing from Monaco made 16 clearances against City which Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher described as a “John Terry performance.”
Despite being denied the three points by a late Rodri equaliser after Raheem Sterling had opened the scoring against his former side, the 25 year old believes that Chelsea’s performance was the perfect preparation for Liverpool.
Talking to The Standard the former Monaco man said: “Since the start of the season there have been a lot of expectations, just because we played well in the last three games doesn’t mean we should say, ‘Chelsea are back’.
“Next is the final and we have to learn from this game. We showed we can take a lot of confidence before the next game. We need to rest and prepare for this final very well.”
The French international has been an ever present for Mauricio Pochettino’s men starting 23 out of 25 Premier league games, scoring once in the process and will be hoping he can play a big part in securing Chelsea their first domestic trophy since winning the FA Cup in 2018 under Antonio Conte.
