Nicolas Jackson played 79 minutes against Crystal Palace before being subbed off last week.
As always he worked hard, but wasn’t able to make much happen. When Chelsea won the game late on, he ran onto the pitch from the sidelines, and was given a booking. He’s now one caution short of his tenth, which will leave him suspended for two games.
He’s lucky we won the game – otherwise it would have been the most shameful moment of a season which is already pretty notable for how dreadful our discipline has been in things like this.
As it was, as part of a win, we can laugh it off a little.
But given manager Mauricio Pochettino has already admitted he’s spoken to Jackson a lot about these things, so to get your most stupid and avoidable booking of the season as your NINTH (and let’s not forget we’re not even at the midway mark in February yet) is utterly shameful.
We love Nicolas and hope he can be a great player for us, but unless he sorts this out, it’s hard to see him ever being a fixture in our team in the long run.
