Cole Palmer isn’t flustered by anything. He was interviewed last night after winning the London Football Award for Young Player of the Year, and was asked what the future holds for such a bright talent.
He had no goals, he admitted. No lofty ambitions just yet. All he wanted when he took the leap to leave his boyhood club in the summer was the minutes that his huge talent deserves.
“I just came down here [from Man City] to play,” he said humbly.
Well he’s already done a lot more than that. We think we’ll be seeing a few more of these awards to come over the years.
You can see him interviewed in the clip embedded here:
“We’re just trying as a group to get results, kick on as a young team – and I think that will come eventually.”

He also notes that he wants to win things with this team. That may prove a little harder unless they get things together, but if Cole keeps his icy calm in finals like he did on Sunday, we might yet have a chance.
