Fans of other Premier League teams don’t really understand how good Trevoh Chalobah is. In fact, plenty of Chelsea fans don’t even realise.
He may not be Virgil Van Dijk or prime JT, but he’s an incredibly versatile and solid defender who always does well he’s dropped into the team. That’s why every manager from Thomas Tuchel onwards has ended up using him.
Mauricio Pochettino is the latest. The game in midweek was the first chance he’s had to see the academy product in action, chucked in to play about 3 different positions through the course of a game where the coach changed personnel repeatedly.
Chalobah must have impressed his latest coach because here we are just days later, watching him get another start.
It looks like he will be at right centre back in a 3, a position which he’s looked fantastic in before.
Whoever ends up buying him this summer will be getting a great player – which begs the question of why we’re trying to sell such a useful piece of our squad.
