Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the future of Marc Cucurella will be “assessed at the end of the season.”
Cucurella arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2022 in a big money move from Brighton but the Spaniard has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge despite excelling during his time at The Seagulls.
A foot injury picked up in the 2-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park last December has limited the 25 year old to just 12 appearances across all competitions this season.
The left back was performing well when he had a run in the side following injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James but now faces a tough task to get back in following his return from injury.
Cucurella has recently been linked with a return to La Liga but Romano believes the 25 year olds future isn’t something that will be decided now.
Speaking exclusively to Caught Offside in his Daily Briefing column Romano said: “Marc Cucurella, the Chelsea left back has been linked with a return to La Liga.”
“My understanding is that he is one of the situations to be assessed at the end of the season. Cucurella, Chalobah and more, these players are waiting to see what Chelsea decide to do in terms of project, tactical plans for next season, the manager situation.”
Cucurella was very close to joining Manchester United on loan last August but the move collapsed due to United wanting a break clause in the deal.
