Earlier this year, San Marino made waves on football headlines after getting a win over fellow minnow Liechtenstein to get their first ever win since 2004. La Serenissima managed to repeat the trick with a 3-1 win, the first time they’ve ever scored more than once in a single match throughout the team’s 34-year-existence.
If you recall, their first match was a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from 19-year-old Nicko Sensoli to send the nation into hysterics. Their most recent one featured goals from Lorenzo Lazzari, Nicola Nanni from the spot, and Alessandro Golinucci to overturn Liechtenstein’s opener five minutes from the end of the first half. The stats also suggest that San Marino played fairly well.
