This feels like a very “injured” season in the Premier League. We’re not sure if it’s coincidence, perception or something sports-sciencey, but almost half the league seem to feel like injuries have seriously affected them.
Newcastle, Man U, Crystal Palace, Brentford, the list goes on. It’s not just Chelsea who have been feeling the pinch, although it’s hard to imagine that anyone has had such a drawn out struggle as Chelsea have had.
CFC Daily totted up the number of players we’ve had in each month, and found that it’s been above 5 since the start of the season, peaking in December with 12 out.
He was able to name just 7 players who had missed fewer than 3 games through injury in the campaign – Djordje Petrovic, Axel Disasi, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, Raheem Sterling and Cole Palmer.
We seriously doubt that any of the other teams in the division can match those figures.
