Trevoh Chalobah’s recovery from injury has come at just the right time for Chelsea.
They’re pretty stretched at the back, and Chalobah has already played in three positions since returning to fitness in February.
Speaking in a really interesting exclusive interview on the Chelsea website, Chalobah talked a bit about his positions and how he wanted to help the team:
“It’s a role I’m comfortable in and I’ll play wherever I’m needed,” he said when asked about playing in the middle of a back 3 for his first start of the season, against Brentford.
“I’ve played in the middle of a three, on the right under Thomas Tuchel, I played on the left in France too. It’s just about what is best for the team.”
His versatility makes him super useful for any manager, and it’s no surprise that Mauricio Pochettino has brought him back into his plans immediately, now that the defender is fit.
He’s happy to play anywhere – he just wants to play for the club he loves, especially after such a long time out.
Once again, given he’s so useful, home grown and a good player, it’s mad that we seem to try and glod him in every passing transfer window.
