Mauricio Pochettino is taking his press conference after tonight’s win over Newcastle, and he’s revealed that owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were in the dressing room – as well as others members of the ownership group, potentially.
They’re all in town for the Premier League owners’ meeting which was today, and that lined up nicely with a game at Stamford Bridge for them to watch:
“[Boehly] came with his son, Behdad, all the owners were there. It was a nice chat, only a few minutes because I need to come for the interview and the press conference. The relationship is good.”
Thankfully, this time they got to see a win, which has very much not been the case on some of their previous visits.
We’re largely uncomfortable with owners getting too involved up close and personal like this – it always feels like it’s a negative, even if Pochettino insists he doesn’t mind.
Still, it’s nicer to have the owners coming in for a win than for a loss ,which is traditionally when you see owners in dressing rooms. As long as they’re just congratulating him on a win, there’s no harm done.
