Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with Cole Palmer’s impact last night but believes he can take another step forward.
Palmer played a vital role as he registered a goal and assist in the same game for the fifth time this season, more than any other player in the Premier League.
It’s easy to forget the 21 year old arrived on the final day of last summer’s transfer window and this is his first season playing regular football.
The England international was named man of the match last night and now has 11 goals and eight assists in the league this season and has a real chance of going to the Euros with England this summer.
Pochettino has been delighted with Palmer but feels he can go up another level and speaking to the club’s official website said: “He is doing well. He arrived on the last day of the transfer window but it was easy for him to adapt to the team and the demands of the coaching staff.”
“I think he is showing his quality and how he can link the game.”
“He is fantastic, he is getting more mature every day. He still needs to improve but is doing a very good job.”
Pochettino will be hoping Palmer can inspire his side again on Sunday in the FA Cup quarter final when they take on Championship leaders Leicester City with the Blues one win away from returning to Wembley.
