Premier League live: Top flight rains goals on its return as Chelsea are held by 10-man Burnley, Tottenham leave it late to beat Luton and Sheffield United are denied by Fulham

Everything was nice and calm after 45 minutes until all exploded in the second half across the board.

Today had it all. Last-minute winners, VAR controversy, overhead kicks, red cards. You name it, it had it. It was goals galore.

Spurs kept the pressure on Aston Villa while Nottingham Forest climbed out of the drop zone.

At Bramall Lane, it was carnage as Sheffield United slipped up right at the end, but I’ll tell you what, what a game!

I need to take a little breather after that. So, thank you for joining and I will be with you all again very shortly…

While Chelsea once again fell flat, Cole Palmer still showed what he was all about.

With his two goals this afternoon, he has now netted 13 this campaign.

I thoroughly enjoy watching him play, he has some career ahead of him.

Everton have still not won since the turn of the year.

With today’s loss to Bournemouth, they have now failed to secure a win any of their last 12 Premier League matches – losing seven of them – their joint-longest-ever run in the Premier League.

They are still in a relegation battle unless things turn around.

I love Heung-Min Son as a football player, he is exceptional.

With his goal today he bow has 15 in the Premier League this season. That means he has now scored at least 15 goals in a League season on three of the last four occasions.

Ok, I know Fulham salvaged a point after being on the verge of a thumping, but this point still stands.

Fulham have only won one of their last 14 Premier League away matches (D5 L8). Horrible form.

Guess who that one win was against though… there will be no prizes.

That was a big result for Burnley, even if they are no closer to survival.

Burnley are now unbeaten in three Premier League games after today’s draw with Chelsea.

That’s the first time they have managed that feat under Vincent Kompany.

Things are looking brighter for the Clarets!

In the end, it was a big win for Spurs.

At one point you wondered if it just wasn’t going to be their day, but as all good teams do, they found a way.

The players certainly seem happy with the result!

This one slipped past me today in all the chaos.

Adam Smith made his 200th Premier League appearance for Bournemouth today, and he will be smiling at the end of it.

It’s crazy to think that Bournmouths first foray into the top-tier of English football was nine years ago…

That was a sensational batch of 3pm kick-offs.

At half-time I asked for more goals and the teams certainly obliged.

13 of the goals came after the break! What an afternoon.

This picture is all that really needs to be said.

This goal could easily be the goal of the season. Rodrigo Muniz has been on a tear recently!

What a way to level it late.

All I can say is, what a game!

The first half was as quiet as can be, but the second half was pure chaos. With eight minutes of normal time remaining Sheffield United thought they were 4-1 up.

However, after the goal was ruled out, Fulham responded in incredible fashion. Muniz’s equaliser was sensational.

I need a lie down after that.

The whistle goes and Spurs are back in the top four.

It may only be for a matter of hours as Aston Villa play later today, but it is a big win nonetheless.

Spurs had to come from behind after going behind early, but after an own goal, and Son’s late winner, they get the job done.

Luton fall back into the relegation zone.

The points are shared at the Bridge.

10-man Burnley twice came from behind to earn a huge point in their fight for survival.

That is a poor result for Chelsea, but it is becoming an all too familiar story.

How big could that point prove at the end of the season?

With Luton losing at Spurs, as things stand they are out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Chris Wood’s second-half strike cancelled out Mateta’s first-half opener for Palace.

The own goal by Seamus Coleman is the difference in the end.

Everton thought they had done enough to earn a point on the south coast after Beto cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s opener.

But it wasn’t to be after that horror show at the end. They are now winless in 12 Premier League matches – a club record.

That is a horrible way to concede in the final moments. Seamus Coleman tries to chest it back to Jordan Pickford and it goes into the back of the net.

Awful own goal, you have to feel for him.

10 minutes ago I thought Sheffield United were dead and buried, now they are level. Rodrigo Muniz lashes in a thunderbolt of an overhead kick to save the day.

The Luton resistance is broken.

Heung-Min Son is the man, it was never going to be anybody else, he fires home via a deflection.

Heartbreaking for Luton, they couldn’t hold on – the story of their season.

Another equaliser, this time on the south coast.

Beto has come on and brought Everton level after a horror show from Neto.

The Toffees striker squeezes it in somehow!

They are level once again.

Burnley just aren’t giving up, Dara O’Shea has scored the equaliser with a thunderous header.

This is one hell of a match.

This game is one of the maddest I have ever covered. Bobbie Decordova-Reid has given Fulham hope as he smashes in a fabulous effort.

The celebrations are cut short.

Vini Souza is offside and the goal is ruled out. This game is absolute carnage.

What a lovely finish too, he fires Chelsea back in front after a brilliant flick by Raheem Sterling.

What is going on at Bramall Lane? Fulham are falling apart here.

Fulham can’t clear and Oli McBurnie manages to fire it home. This is incredible!

OH MY WORD, how is it not 2-1 to Spurs!

They think the ball has crossed the line, but it hasn’t… I think.

Brennan Johnson Looks like he has forced the ball in but Alfie Doughty clears it away.

That was so, so close. Must have been the width of a single hair.

The atmosphere is not positive at Stamford Bridge…

Their frustration is being vented as Chelsea can’t get that elusive second goal.

Cole Palmer has a crack but it’s saved by Muric!

That is exceptional by Dean Henderson.

It’s all Nottingham Forest and Gio Reyna forces a brilliant save at full stretch by Henderson with a bending effort.

Morgan Gibbs-White then has a go but fires wide. It’s chances galore at the moment.

After all the goals in the other games, it’s a little calmer here.

Spurs have been banging at the door but they haven’t found the breakthrough.

Son perhaps had the biggest chance but he was denied by Kaminski.

This is non-stop, Premier League drama everywhere.

This is absolute madness, Sheffield united are 3-1 up and Ben Brereton-Diaz has his brace, shouldering home across Bernd Leno.

There is a melee in the goal afterward and it all starts to kick off, the drama is unraveling in this second half.

After a long VAR check, the goal stands.

Sheffield United are back in front!

This game has come to life, that’s three goals in 10 minutes with Oli McBurnie tapping home.

Bramall Lane goes bezerk!

The deadlock is broken at the Vitality.

Dominic Solanke has been clinical all season and he has just headed home from close range from Lloyd Kelly’s cross.

He had to bend his neck backward to get behind it – very impressive.

A hue goal for Nottingham Forest and the context of the relegation battle.

No surprise that it’s Chris Wood who gets it, Nodding home with a looping header from close range.

It was a brilliant ball from Morgan Gibbs-White!

It’s all Burnley at the moment.

Dorde Petrovic has just kept Chelsea level with a stunning save to deny Lyle Foster.

I wasn’t expecting this, 10-men Burnley are dominating at the Bridge.

Four minutes, that’s how long Sheffield United’s lead has lasted.

Joao Palhinha nets his fourth goal of the season with a free header following a corner.

That is terrible defending, it was so easy.

After all the chances for Fulham, it’s Sheffield United that take the lead through Ben Brereton-Diaz.

He simply couldn’t miss, it was a tap-in.

It’s goals galore after the interval!

Issa Kabore has just put it into the back of his own net, what is he doing?

The build-up play was brilliant though. Substitute Brennan Johnson does so well on the right-hand side and if Kabore didn’t smash it in, you would have expected Timo Werner to.

That is one hell of a volley from just outside the area from Josh Cullen to draw Burley level. That is some way to find an equaliser.

What a start to the second half for 10-men Burnley.

Nearly a flying start from Fulham.

It’s Rodrigo Muniz again who hits the post, this time with a dipping header.

It was a fabulous leap but he can’t quite guide it in.

That break went very quickly.

The ball is back rolling around the grounds and we are back playing again.

Surely there will be more goals and drama in the second half.

It looks like Nuno Espirito Santo has seen enough.

Anthony Elanaga already has his full kit on and is going through a rigorous warm-up during the break.

Predictions on who he will come on for?

Dominic Hogan, Mail Sport, at the City Ground:

Palace and Oliver Glasner will feel that all is going to plan, Eberechi Eze their most potent port of call, though he will feel he should have made it 2-0 after being fed brilliantly by Adam Wharton.

There have been some tight moments as Forest attack down the left, but ultimately it’s the visitors with the lead, and they will feel comfortable in that knowledge at half-time.

And there goes the whistle for half-time.

It’s been a rollercoaster at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have had a bucket-load of chances and thought they had taken the lead after 20 minutes through Axel Disasi, but it was ruled out.

However, they did find the lead in the end from the penalty spot thanks to Cole Palmer after Lorenz Assignon was sent off after a second yellow card.

Vincent Kompany has also been sent off.

Malo Gusto forces a strong save from Muric, but maybe he should have passed. Cole Palmer was in a good position.

They are leading but should be out of sight.

While Luton are flying in the capital, it’s not going well for Forest.

It’s been a game of few chances, but Crystal Palace took one of their five through Jean-Phillippe Mateta.

Forest struggled to respond and the crowd are not happy.

This is not a scoreline I was expecting 45 minutes ago.

Luton lead in North London at the break thanks to Tahith Chong’s goal after just three minutes.

They are winless in eight games, but they lead at Tottenham.

It’s not been box office, and its goalless at the break on the south coast.

Everton will feel they should be ahead but Neto produced a wonderful save to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Let’s hope for more chances in the second half.

It’s been all Fulham but they just can’t find the back of the net.

Rodrigo Muniz came closest as he hit the post before failing with a rabona, they don’t always come off.

Remember, Fulham’s away record is not the best, but neither is Sheffield United’s home form…

So cool, so calm. A delightful panenka from Cole Palmer. This boy does not feel nerves, does he?

It’s all drama at the bridge.

Lorenz Assignon chops down Mykhailo Mudryk and is shown a second yellow card, which is confirmed after a VAR check.

Vincent Kompany is then sent off for his protest, it’s all happening here.

So, so close from Rodrigo Muniz.

He does well inside the area to find some space before firing an effort towards goal which its tipped onto the post by Ivo Grbic.

He then tries a rabona on the rebound and funnily enough nothing comes from it.

Palace are rapid on the counterattack.

They go flying forward after Morgan Gibbs-White’s free-kick is cleared, but they can’t make anything of it.

It’s impressive how fast they can move, though.

This game has finally come to life.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin comes so close to ending his 22-game goal drought, but Neto denies him from close range.

That is a very good save in all fairness.

Luton are hanging on here, but they are still leading.

There is a long way to go, but as things stand they are four points clear of the relegation zone as Nottingham Forest losing.

Spurs are looking good though, you feel they will get their equaliser soon.

Burnley have had a chance…

After all the defending the Clarets have had to do today, they have managed to get up the other end with Josh Cullen testing Petrovic in goal.

That should give them confidence. The longer Chelsea stay wasteful, the more Burnley’s confidence will grow.

The home crowd are not happy. Every perceived attempt from Palace – in particular former loanee Dean Henderson – at time-wasting is greeted with raucous boos, jeers and whistles. Mind you, going a goal down in 10 minutes would do that.

VAR are checking for handball, and it looks like this one is going to be chalked off.

And there it is, the goal is disallowed due to Axel Disasi turning home with his arm.

Clear as day that, was never going to stand.

After all the chances, Axel Disasi has given Chelsea the lead, getting in on the end of Mudryk’s low cross to turn home from around two yards out.

How have Spurs not scored??

I’m pretty sure every player had a pop there, but they are still 1-0 down.

A goal feels like it’s coming soon.

Lots of noise from the Luton end. Bathed in sunshine and their team still ahead, although glorious chance for Werner to level, dragged wide.

This has been a fantastic game, but no goals as of yet.

Cole Palmer again is leading the Chelsea charge but his effort is blocked and comes to nothing.

Surely the pressure on the Burnley goal will bring a goal soon. Either way, it’s entertaining.

Spurs have responded well to going behind.

Timo Werner should score, but he fires wide after being sent through by Dejan Kulusevski.

Chelsea fans will know how Spurs fans will be feeling right now.

Not the start Forest needed…

All the talk has been about Forest prior to the match, but it’s Crystal Palace who take the lead.

It’s Jean-Philippe Mateta who gets it, but it’s all about Eberechi Eze, who looks like he is going to go for goal himself but disguises a sneaky pass into Mateta.

The striker does the rest with a great finish.

Inches away from Alex Iwobi.

The Nigerian forward nearly gets on the end of a cross-box header following a set-piece, but he can’t quite reach it.

Fulham are on top at Bramall Lane, as expected.

Wonderful composure in the box after a brilliant break by former Spurs winger Townsend. Home crowd silenced. Dream start for the visitors.

As a man, I know how painful that would have been.

Thomas Kaminski has just been hit in a region no person wants to be… you know what I’m talking about.

It could take him a while to recover which is a problem in a Premier League match.

I asked before the start of the game if Luton could mount a shock, well they have certainly started on the right path.

It’s Tahith Chong who scores it, he fires in a great finish into the bottom corner after the ball is worked well from the right by Andros Townsend and Ross Barkley.

Couldn’t have asked for a better start from the Hatters!

A bright start from Chelsea.

Cole Palmer certainly doesn’t look like he is struggling with a knock, he has already come close to giving Chelsea the lead.

He has just fired the ball into the side netting from the lefthand side.

It feels good to be back behind a keyboard covering Premier League football, it just feels right.

There was an extended, yet rousing, compilation of some of Forest’s best moments from time gone by in the run-up to kick-off here at the City Ground. Part of that video involved Nuno Espirito Santo calling for the support of the home fans.

If the way a brief spurt of Freed From Desire was belted out and the applause that greeted the home side as they made their way out onto the pitch are anything to go by, the Forest boss has got his wish.

It has been a tough season for him, having to watch on the sidelines since his move from Leeds United due to injury.

Well, he finally gets that first start today.

He has prepared well for it too, scoring a thunderbolt for the USA against Mexico last week – he nearly took the net off.

Imagine if he did that again today, the scenes would be amazing!

It’s fair to say it has not been the best return to Premier League football for Burnley.

They sit 19th on 17 points and are in real trouble, life has not been chipper in Lancashire this campaign.

However, after the Nottingham Forest points deduction they are still in with a sniff of survival.

They are after back-to-back wins in the Premier League – they beat Brentford 2-1 last time out.

A win today is crucial for them, and at Stamford Bridge, you just never know.

Luton Town have surprised us on many occasions this season and if they are to stay up this season, they could do with doing it again today.

They have a tough task on their hands away at Spurs who are fighting for a top-four spot, but the Hatters don’t fear anybody.

I’m not sure that will be enough today though, I see Spurs being too strong for them.

However, I normally get stuff wrong…

Chris Wood could prove to be key for Nottingham Forest in their fight for survival.

The New Zealand striker has scored nine goals in the league this season and tops the Forest goalscoring charts.

How they could do with some big goals from him today.

Sean Dyche has trusted Dominic Calvert-Lewin to lead the line for the Toffees once again.

Everyone knows the talent Calvert-Lewin possesses, but injuries and inconsistent performances have blighted his career at times.

The Everton striker has gone 22 games without scoring, can he change that today?

Chelsea have been in good form recently, but they still sit in 11th.

It seems that even when they do string some good results together, when you look at the table they are still in the bottom half.

Well, if Newcastle lose today they have a great opportunity to leapfrog them into 10th with a win over Burnley.

Newcastle are currently 3-1 down…

No surprises here, Fulham are unchanged from their 3-0 battering of Spurs before the international break.

It is a tough result to follow, but you’d expect them to back it up with a win away at a poor Sheffield United.

Sheffield United are in real trouble, propping up the table. It doesn’t look good for them.

Chris Wilder makes three changes as he looks to change their fortunes with Anel Ahmedhodzic, Vini Souza and Mason Holgate all back in from the start.

Arijanet Muric keeps his place in net over James Trafford, despite the latter’s first senior England call-up last week.

Vincent does make two changes with David Fofana one of the absentees due to being ineligible to face his parent club.

Can they get back-to-back wins for the first time this season?

There were doubts over Cole Palmer’s fitness, but he starts today against Burnley.

Mauricio Pochettino does make two changes though, with Benoit Badiashile and Mykhailo Mudryk both coming in.

Raheem Sterling drops to the bench.

Luton are fighting for their lives at the bottom and Rob Edwards has made two changes from the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Andros Townsend and Luke Berry return to the starting 11 to face Spurs.

They have a tough day ahead of them today, but there is no doubt they will fight for every point to the best of their ability.

Surprisingly that is the only change to the Spurs side that lost 3-0 to Fulham before the international break.

The English striker comes in to replace Beto, while Seamus Coleman also returns to start.

Tyler Adams has been waiting for this moment for a long time.

The USA international finally gets his first Premier League start after injury.

Justin Kluivert also comes in.

Dean Henderson does indeed start as expected due to the injury of Sam Johnstone.

This is a big chance for him to impress Oliver Glasner and state his intentions to stay as number one.

Other than that, there are no more changes from their 1-1 draw to Luton Town on March 9.

Callum Hudson-Odoi comes into the side with Anthony Elanga dropping to the bench.

Is this side strong enough to get all three points?

It was pretty clear when questioned on his feelings about the points deduction, Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo was not a happy man.

The Portuguese manager stated he thinks he ‘punched something’ when he was informed of the news.

However, when pushed on what he wants to see from his side, on Thursday, his answer was clear and concise:

What do we have to do? Work harder. That’s enough of words, let’s go to actions.

Today is a huge game for Nottingham Forest’s future in this division.

Today’s encounter with Crystal Palace is their first since the news broke of their four-point deduction after breaching the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

The deduction has seen them drop into the bottom three, one point behind Luton.

Now the battle is really on to stay in the league.

After the first 10 or so games you could be forgiven for believing Spurs would be in the fight for the big one.

However, injuries and inconsistent form leave them fighting to get into the top four.

Yes, we could potentially see five teams from the Premier League compete in the Champions League next season, but it’s not a given.

Angelos Postecoglou will not be taking any chances and a win today against Luton Town will keep them in the fight.

Now, this is where it gets interesting.

Nine out of the 10 teams who get underway in just over an hour are starting the day in the bottom half of the table – including Chelsea.

If you’re a Blues fan you’ll be hoping this is the last time you see your team in this position for a very long time.

It’s also a huge day for Burnley, Nottingham Forest, and Luton in the fight to beat the drop.

As we get down to the business end of the season I find my eyes always wandering to the table to see where everyone is placed.

Tottenham are the only side in today’s 3pm kick-offs to start the day in the top half.

They sit three points behind Villa with a game in hand. They will be desperate to make sure they are level before Villa kick-off at 5.30!

I love a 3pm kick-off, it’s footballing heritage, especially this time of year when spring is approaching and the sun starts to come out.

Five Premier League stadiums will be hosting matches when the clock strikes 15:00 GMT, so let’s have a look at what we have in store:
