TEB VERDICT
Before this run of three games in a week, much of the fanbase were hoping for anything up to four points from the three difficult opponents. To have come out of the other side unbeaten having taken seven points has been fantastic and shows just where we are under Oliver Glasner.
Without the enigmatic Ebere Eze who has been a driving force of late, Michael Olise took the weight firmly on his shoulders, and it certainly did not affect him by putting in a man of the match performance, and ably supported by a hard to beat back line and Adam Wharton in the middle of the park, defying his young years in less than six months at the club, and Premier League.
Just three games remain of this campaign before the Austrian can really get his teeth into the squad and mould it into what he wants it to be heading into pre-season and the 2024/25 campaign.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“At the end maybe the result is okay, but I’m really pleased with the performance, a totally deserved point that we got. I’m pleased and I really appreciate it. The feeling is that we were the better team. It was the third game in six days and we cleared staying in the Premier League. The players had a lot of power at the end, they wanted to get this point and we got the reward with an amazing goal from Jeffrey Schlupp. Again, very good for all of our substitutes, new energy on the pitch and we are happy that we take the point.
We know that Jeffrey has a fantastic finish, we see it in training but again, it was very hard work today but the players did really well but now they deserve to have some days off and then preparing for the finish of the Premier League.”
MARCO SILVA
“In the first half, we were second best. It was difficult for us accept in the last 10 or 15 minutes. The moment when Leno got a small injury was important to give feedback for the players and straight away we start to be slightly better but I have to say, two different halves.
It’s a cliché but it was two different halves. Better for Palace in the first half, we are not capable to build our attacks the way we normally do. There was strong pressure. The second half was completely different. The way we started, we were more aggressive on the ball and off the ball, much more bravery to find the gaps that we want to find and we scored the goal because of that and we were on the front foot in some moments.
They equalised with an amazing strike but we should have prevented it much better to stop the ball going in that area.”
