good morning!
Today’s Track of the Day is for Menno. Fitzie knows you love some Jim Croce. Wishing you the best on your operation and recovery!

We like to talk about music here at Hoddle Headquarters, a lot. So much so that we even created a Spotify playlist from the Tracks of the Day. You can check it out here (updated through March 11).
This is a hoddle I’ve been saving for a couple months now. I’m only just getting to it because I’m not sure what else to write about. So let’s dive into music-listening habits throughout the weekday.
- Early morning (before 9am): Jim Croce or George Harrison
I like a nice and easy start to the day, and Croce and Harrison help me accomplish that. Whether it’s on the bus or metro, I go through their songs. My personal favourites are One Less Set of Footsteps (Croce) and My Sweet Lord (Harrison). The latter is probably the best song to ever come from the Beatles or one of their members.
- Early morning (before 9am): Jazz, if I’m working from home
If I’m not going into the office, I’ll most likely throw on some jazz. I rotate through Chet Baker, Chick Correa, Charles Mingus, Bill Evans and the Thelonious Monk ‘radios’ on Spotify.
- 9/10am through end of workday: 88.5FM The SoCal Sound
My day’s already well begun by the time Southern California wakes up. So I get some good West Coast music with Nic Harcourt and Jet in the morning hour, and then Julie Slater in the PT afternoon. I discover loads of new music this way. How do you think I first came across Tuesday’s TOTD?
I made my own gym playlist, but got tired of it. So now I sort through all the punk songs. I dig it.
- Dinner prep and late night: Wild card
It’s late in the evening now, and I’m listening to some Charles Mingus (more on this next week). Last night it was Television. Sometimes I like to go through folk music or go through more classic 70s rock. Othertimes soul. It usually isn’t Croce or Harrison, though.
And then I’ll take a scroll through my record collection and put one on. Tonight, again, it’s Mingus.
NB: I am listening to Jim Croce right now.
Nothing but the Dead, from morning til night.
