Leeds United defender Djed Spence is set to be out for up to eight weeks but is not expected to require surgery on a knee ligament injury.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee sustained the injury following a challenge in training last week and sat out Leeds’ victory over Millwall on Sunday.
After undergoing a scan, it was confirmed that Spence has suffered lateral collateral ligament damage.

A Leeds statement on Monday read: “Djed Spence picked up a knee injury following a challenge in training last week, and following scans, we can confirm he has damaged his lateral collateral ligament.
“The injury is not expected to require surgery and we expect Djed to return to play within eight weeks. We wish Djed a speedy recovery.”
The 23-year-old defender joined Leeds on loan from Tottenham this summer. He has featured once so far for his new club, coming off the bench for the final nine minutes against Sheffield Wednesday before the international break.
The injury could keep Spence out until the middle of November and leaves him a doubt for Leeds’ crunch fixtures against fellow relegated sides Southampton on September 30 and Leicester City on November 4, as well as the meeting with Farke’s former club, Norwich City, on October 21.
Leeds return to Championship action on Wednesday when they travel to Hull City.
