Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg shared an interview with PSV’s Johan Bakayoko this week, in which they claimed that Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich are all knocking for the winger.
According to the claims, Bakayoko could leave PSV for around €50m (£42.6m). Though when asked about the possibility, the player himself was noncommittal.
“The only thing I can say is that next year I will be on a football field somewhere,” Bakayoko responded.
“I received a call from [Vincent] Kompany (former Burnley boss, now of Bayern) last year, indeed. He then explained his vision on football. That was nice. I clarified my view.
“It was a good conversation, but that was last summer.”
Arsenal do seem to be in the market for a winger this summer, with John Cross recently reporting for the Mirror that the Gunners are pursuing both an up-and-coming centre-forward and a winger.
With no obvious first-choice target in the wide positions at the moment, there are plenty of potential options on the table. It seems Bakayoko could be among them.
The 21-year-old played against Arsenal twice in 2023/24, impressing in the Eindhoven fixture by causing a lot of problems for Jakub Kiwior at left-back.
Bakayoko didn’t score or assist in the Arsenal matches, but he still showed his talents. His 28 goal contributions in 48 games over the course of the season suggest he does have the end product he didn’t necessarily show in those Gunners games.
Yet the links aren’t particularly concrete at this stage, and any potential move is clearly still in the early stages.
