According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg and Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), there will not be any resolution to Leroy Sané’s contract situation at Bayern Munich until after the EURO 2024 tournament.
Things appear to be pretty solid between the two parties, but the Germany international does not want anything to be a distraction while he prepares to help his team attempt to win a trophy on its home soil:
A final decision on Leroy Sané’s future is not expected before the Euros. The player is fully focused on the tournament at the moment. Bayern would like to extend Sané’s contract beyond 2025. Max Eberl has recently met the player for dinner and held talks. Vincent Kompany, Sané’s former teammate at Manchester City, would certainly be happy to keep him.
While there is some uncertainty regarding the future of other wingers, and the position (in a traditional sense) could take a back seat if Kompany uses a 4-4-2, Sané appears to be the one player from the existing position group, who can seamlessly slide into a different role when needed.
On the surface, it seems like a contract extension is very likely.
