Man United have sounded out Lille defender Leny Yoro, ahead of a potential move to sign the talented teen.
It goes without saying, Manchester United have no choice but to sign at least one centre-half this summer. The Red Devils lost Raphael Varane. Jonny Evans and maybe even Victor Lindelof could follow suit.
Several names have been linked with filling the void left by the aforementioned Frenchman. Perhaps none more so than Jarrad Branthwaite. However, the pursuit of the Everton man has been long and drawn out, with the Merseyside club refusing to budge on their asking price.
Now, Sky Sports News have provided the latest on the Reds’ search for a centre-half, with Leny Yoro’s name now appearing close to the forefront.
According to their latest information, United have made ‘initial contact’ with Lille over the signing of the talented teen.
It’s stated that Branthwaite remains a primary target, though Yoro is now one of several options the Old Trafford club are looking at.
The Lille man represents a much cheaper option that the aforementioned Branthwaite, though that does come at a cost. He has no Premier League experience, meaning there is more of a risk involved – particularly when you consider that he is still just eighteen years old.
However, it can be argued that Yoro has more upside. His talent level is through the roof and this is someone who could develop into one of the best in the world in his position.
As a result, the competition to sign Yoro will be fierce. Real Madrid have been linked in the past. No doubt other European giants would firm up their interest with an official bid if word got out that he was on the move.
