Man United have held initial talks over potentially signing Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer.
Manchester United Football Club are trying to limit their spending this summer, meaning the Red Devils may have to look lower down their list of transfer targets for signings.
The Old Trafford side have to comply with Premier League spending rules, while also strengthening the playing squad as INEOS look to reassure the fans that this club is moving in the right direction.
Perhaps a free transfer for someone like Adrien Rabiot could maximise value for money, though signing the Frenchman will not be easy.
United have been linked with the Juventus man in the past, though eventually, it always feels like his wage demands are unrealistic.
Now, TEAMtalk have provided an update on Rabiot’s future, claiming United have held ‘preliminary talks’ over the free agent signing.
United will face competition from Aston Villa, Arsenal, and other unnamed clubs for the signing, with the player ‘unlikely’ to stay at his current club this summer.
His agent and mother, Veronique, realises this is Rabiot’s last chance to earn mega-money from a contract, with the 29-year-old entering into the stage of his career where performances may start to decline.
There’s a three year deal from Juve on the table, though that offer does not satisfy Rabiot’s wage demands.
That alone scares me. United would likely have to overpay for the Frenchman, who feels like he is more than willing to just go to the highest bidder – rather than actually caring about where he’s playing his football next season.
If it were up to me, I’d avoid Rabiot like the plague. It feels like an unnecessary (and quietly expensive) gamble.
