Germany and Switzerland combined for a clean sweep in WhoScored’s list of Group A’s Top 10 players during the group stage at EURO 2024 — with Germany getting all of the top five.
Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala headlined the list, ahead of retiring Real Madrid veteran Toni Kroos. One inclusion that may turn heads: Arsenal striker Kai Havertz, who slotted in at #5. The full list, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, is reproduced below:
- Jamal Musiala (FC Bayern)
- Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)
- Joshua Kimmich (FC Bayern)
- İlkay Gündoğan (FC Barcelona)
- Kai Havertz (Arsenal FC)
- Michel Aebischer (Bologna)
- Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen)
- Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen)
- Fabian Schär (Newcastle United)
- Dan Ndoye (Bologna)
Havertz has faced questions after his lack of goal production but his contributions off the ball seem to be keeping him in Julian Nagelsmann’s XI. The 25-year-old former Chelsea FC man is facing competition from a backup, Niclas Füllkrug of Borussia Dortmund, who has now scored twice from open play, while Havertz’s lone goal came from a penalty kick.
While ratings are subjective, though, one thing is for sure. Bayern’s wonderkid Musiala is one of the tournament’s breakout stars.
