Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann finally made changes to his XI and his squad delivered in a 2-0 win over Denmark in the EURO 2024 Round of 16. Now the Germans are through, and have clear options to choose between for their next XI.
But how did this last lineup do? Pretty well, according to the German media. Despite a day full of misfiring forwards, the Germans — with some luck and the tightest possible VAR call — got the job done, ultimately coming closer to putting Denmark to the sword than squandering their lead.
Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané’s fight for inclusion versus Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz, and Arsenal FC forward Kai Havertz’s place in the team versus more traditional box striker Niclas Füllkrug of Borussia Dortmund, are set to be the main storylines going forward.
