After multiple reports suggesting Bayern Munich player Frans Krätzig would move on loan with an option to buy to VfB Stuttgart, it has been made official. Both Stuttgart and Bayern’s websites confirmed that the 21-year-old would spend the 2024/25 season in Stuttgart. Interestingly, however, neither of Bayern nor Stuttgart’s reports mention a buy option for Stuttgart. According to Florian Plettenberg, there is a loan fee in the range of €500k and a buy option of less than €10 million. If it was not officially announced, does this mean that there is no buy option? Or perhaps, as has happened many times in the past, both teams simply do not want to mention the clauses in the contract beyond the simplest ones?
Regardless, Krätzig will spend next season with Die Schwaben and reacted excitedly to it: “VfB [Stuttgart] is offering me the opportunity to develop further, to learn from my teammates and from the playing time I will receive. That’s why I am here and I am excited.”
Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth also sounded enthused about the transfer: “Frans has a very interesting [player] profile. We are convinced he has the sporting capabilities as well as the mentality to earn regular minutes in the Bundesliga.”
Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund added: “A lot happened for Frans last year, from his Bundesliga debut to his first professional contract with FC Bayern and then the second half of the season at Austria Wien – and it all started with his spectacular winning goal on the Audi Summer Tour against Liverpool. He quickly integrated at Austria Wien thanks to his footballing qualities and his character. VfB Stuttgart now offer him the best opportunities to take the next step and further establish himself in professional football.”
