AFC Bournemouth and Ukraine international defender Illia Zabarnyi has been linked with a future move to French megaclub Paris Saint-Germain.
Paris Saint-Germain are owned by Qatar Sports Investments and thus are one of the richest clubs in the world. The club’s president is Nasser Al-Khelaifi chairman of beIN Media Group.
PSG have won the French Ligue 1 title 12 times in their history, with 10 of those titles coming in the past 12 years alone as the club dominates domestic football in France.
Their next aim is to win the UEFA Champions League, something that has evaded them in the past.
They are currently in the market for a new centre-back and it had been widely reported that their number one target was Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille, however, PSG appear to have missed out on Yoro as he intends to sign for Spanish rivals Real Madrid.
According to journalist Chris McKenna, reports have now spread to suggest PSG are now interested in a summer move for Illia Zabarnyi.
The 21-year-old will have impressed at the UEFA European Championships in Germany this summer, despite Ukraine’s early exit from the competition.
Thankfully for the Cherries, Zabarnyi is sitting on another four-year contract at Dean Court after joining the club in January 2023 from Dynamo Kiev.
AFC Bournemouth agreed on a deal reportedly worth £24 million and Zabarnyi is now well settled on the south coast, building a solid partnership at the heart of the Cherries defense alongside Marcos Senesi.
The pair are vital to how AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola wants his side to compete in the Premier League, with a high press from the front, with intensity throughout the side.

Wasn’t able to watch the earlier Ukraine games, but the Belgium game must have been hard on him, hope it won’t ding his confidence for the upcoming season. Absolute rock at the back keeping their star players quiet and dropping pinpoint long balls the entire game, but eliminated since his forwards couldn’t finish gilt-edged chances and the other game ended an insipid draw. Even went on one of those mad CB runs forward but for naught when the forwards with the ball ran down a cul-de-sac and didn’t see him in space.
I’ll admit that I hadn’t focused on his performances enough in the past to fully buy into his hype and our high asking price, mostly just felt solid enough when viewed peripherally, but yesterday the 100 million talent was clear to anyone watching. Now I just hope we can get another season of that before a Champions League team forks over the fee for him.

Zabarnyi is an important player for our team and one we need to keep hold of if we want to finish higher next season in the Premier League.
He is on a long contract and we do not need to sell. – To join the conversation, click here.
