According to a report from Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), there are several changes that could occur to Germany’s starting XI ahead of today’s Round of 16 match against Denmark:
In addition to Niclas Füllkrug, there could be another surprise change on the lineup against Denmark tonight. David Raum is said to be currently ahead of Maximilian Mittelstädt at left-back after he left a strong impression in training. Raum has so far only made a substitute appearance against Switzerland and assisted Füllkrug’s last minute equalizer.
Another consideration for Julian Nagelsmann and Sandro Wagner is to start Leroy Sané instead of Florian Wirtz tonight. Wirtz didn’t do much after his goal in the opening game. And while Sané didn’t score or assist so far, his performance off the bench against Switzerland was rated positively internally. In addition, Sané has been training very well recently. Kai Havertz is also an option for this position.
These moves would certainly shake things up a bit for Nagelsmann and his staff. If they come to fruition will the changes into the starting XI provide a jolt of energy to the lineup?
In addition to that news, Real Madrid center-back Antonio Rüdiger has officially been cleared to play per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg:
✅ Antonio Rüdiger is ready to play and has given the green light for tonight‘s match against Denmark!
The defensive leader is in the starting lineup.
