Wout Faes and Belgium had to see themselves defeated by France, with a certain N’Golo Kantè in their camp. Faes had a good tournament and played every single minute of those four games, as he added his total tally of caps to 19. Timothy Castagne and Youri Tielemans were two Ex Leicester players in their squad also having minutes in the tournament.
Denmark had a dramatic round of 16 game vs. Germany, taking the lead, but then the goal was correctly ruled out. Just seconds later “the goalscorer” Joachim Andersen, was correctly fauled, having his arm out from his body as it touched the ball, penalty to Germany.
Kasper Schmeichel had no chance to save the penalty shot from Kai Havertz. Germany eventually double their tally to 2-0, as they are through to the next round. Jannik Vestergaard played a solid tournament from Denmark, being on the field in all four games. Victor Kristiansen also added caps to his total tally, being on 12 at the moment. Mads Hermansen was an unused sub and still waiting for his full international debut.
England manager Gareth Southgate has been under a lot of critisism, despite getting his team through on minor margins. The two former Ex Leicester related players, Harry Kane and Ivan Toney, made the day for England as Toney assisted Kane on that 2-1 winning goal.
England are through to the final 8, with these two England players left with a minor touch of Leicester during their years in football. Yunus Akgun can join them today if he is lucky in the game for Turkey vs. Austria, being involved once, playing against Portugal. Ayoze Perez is also still in the tournament with Spain, being involved in the match vs. Italy, but could be one getting more minutes as the tournament goes on.
