Real Madrid and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies…the never-ending story.
It seems as if the long-anticipated courtship is still ongoing:
Alphonso Davies continues to be a top transfer target for Real Madrid this summer. After all, the Canadian full-back, who recently concluded his Copa America campaign with a heartbreaking defeat to Uruguay in the third-place match, is one of the best in the business.
Davies’ arrival, however, will likely put an end to either Fran Garcia’s or Ferland Mendy’s time at Real Madrid, as managing three players in the same position is not going to be easy for Carlo Ancelotti. After much deliberation, Los Blancos appear to have finalised which player they are willing to sacrifice, and Jorge C Picon (h/t Madrid Xtra) provides an update on the situation.
What happens with Davies remains to be seen, but just about any scenario is possible…and all Bayern Munich fans can do is sit and wait for some sort of decision to be made.
Bayern Munich’s rumored interest in Theo Hernandez has not gone anywhere…at least not yet:
Some weeks ago, there was a rising possibility of Milan losing Theo Hernandez to Bayern Munich but the Bavarian giants haven’t carried through with their interest.
La Gazzetta dello Sport state that no concrete offers have reached Casa Milan yet and Alphonso Davies, who was linked with Real Madrid, is still a Bayern Munich player. Theo was seen as a replacement for the Canadian but him staying means that Bayern haven’t come forward for the Frenchman.
At this stage, it seems doubtful that Bayern Munich will splurge on a left-back, but the summer transfer window could be an odd one. The coming weeks could bring a few surprises.
Now that EURO 2024 is over, we shift our focus back to Bayern Munich — which is good because there’s plenty to talk about. The transfer window is open and the club are looking to raise some solid money from sales, but there are rumors that it’s not just players, but even board members who could be on the chopping block this summer.
Meanwhile, Thomas Müller just announced his retirement from international football. It wasn’t unexpected, but you can’t help but feel he still had something left to give. This is a sad day for fans of the German NT.
In this episode, INNN discusses the following:
- Why keeping Alphonso Davies without a contract extension is a HUGE mistake — Bayern Munich would be nuts to go through with it.
- Is Jan-Christian Dreesen on his way out? Does he deserve to be sacked? Who can even replace him?
- A short (okay, maybe not that short) rant on Thomas Müller’s retirement from international football. Warning: This part of the podcast contains SPECULATION and maybe a few hot takes.
- Harry Kane’s mysterious injury and what it might mean for the upcoming season under Vincent Kompany.
- An attempt to close out the podcast on a positive note.
Did you ever wonder how Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer stays focused for so long on the pitch despite long periods of inactivity at times? Well, now we know — he talks to himself.
“I talk to myself. That might sound strange, but it’s important,” said Neuer. “Of course, I don’t just talk to myself. Communication with the players in front of me is also extremely important in order to direct them, draw their attention to something or coach them. But I don’t just do that because of a certain situation, I also do it for myself. It keeps me awake and focused.”
Newcastle United could join Arsenal FC in making a play for Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry:
According to The Mirror, Newcastle are plotting an ambitious move to land Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry this summer. The outlet claims the Magpies could launch a £40 million bid to sign the German winger.
Gnabry is facing an ‘uncertain’ future in Munich after Vincent Kompany beat a host of Premier League sides to signing Michael Olise.
Gnabry could be one of the odd men out at the wing position, but he has not given any indication that he is open to a move as of yet.
The German national team lost in the quarterfinals of the EURO 2024 competition in dramatic fashion to a very good side from Spain, but there was much to unpack from the overall experience.
Bavarian Podcast Works is unveiling a three-part mini-series on Germany’s performance at the tournament, so buckle up and take the ride with us.
Here is what we have on tap for Episode 1 of this mini-series as we look at the team’s progress under head coach Julian Nagelsmann:
- It is important to remember that this showing represented progress.
- The ability to connect with players was key and the team responded to the coaching staff.
- There was a true sense of “oneness” and “team” within the squad.
- Nagelsmann still tinkers too much, is too loyal to certain players, and can’t help overcomplicating things.
- Nagelsmann needs to manage the generational transition very carefully.
- Overall, Germany is headed in the right direction.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte could be the next star to join Manchester United as he is rumored to be firmly in the crosshairs of the Red Devils:
Manuel Ugarte is keen on joining Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils said to be progressing in talks to sign the Uruguayan, journalist Fabrizio Romano has told GIVEMESPORT.
Ugarte, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Sporting last summer, endured an underwhelming debut season in Paris. The 23-year-old made 25 appearances in Ligue 1, and has been identified by the United hierarchy as a potential replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Julián Álvarez might be exploring a move away from Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s club has no plans to let him walk away:
Manchester City will talk again to Julián Álvarez’s camp to discuss his situation after the Copa America.
Álvarez wants to play more, City never wanted to sell him or even communicate price tag.

When recently asked if not playing regularly would harm his development, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz said that there are many ways to achieve success in football.
“This is something I hear a lot, but there’s no one way to success. In every situation, wherever I am, I know how to take the things that can make me progress. I’m getting the best training in the world, with the best players in the world, with the best defensive players in the world, with the best attacking players in the world. I maximize everything I can. Of course you can’t replace gaining experience through playing time, but I gained a lot of other things that made me a more mature and better goalkeeper,” said Peretz.
With Germany out of the EUROs, Bayern Munich’s activity is heating up in a big way.
Transfer signings, transfer rumors, and everything in between is hitting the news cycle, but what is going on with Bayern Munich is so much more than all of that.
This is truly a new era at the club and within two years, this team could be completely unrecognizable. Is that a good thing? Was it needed? Let’s talk about that and more on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show. Check out what we have on tap:
- We’ve heard the back and forth on negativity toward Bayern Munich, but let’s talk about why some fans are not feeling uber confident in how things are going.
